Taking On 2012’s 50 Most Popular Shows: April-May Marathon

This coming easter I will be undertaking a momentous task: Watching the top 50 most popular Anime of 2012 (according to MAL).  I’ll have a couple weeks free this April and another in May, so it’ll be a good time to catch up (read: binge) on some of the shows I’ve missed, and there is a lot of them.

I will of course be giving any insights I find interesting about any given show as I watch them and at the end of this Mega-Marathon, I will rank these shows from worst to best, giving my general thoughts in a short paragraph or 2 on each show.

Why 2012? I noticed that 3 of my favorite shows come from 2012 and wanted to see what the whole year was like.

Rules For Inclusion

  • The show must have started in 2012
  • No sequels
  • Should a show and it’s sequel both come out in 2012 that will be taken on a case to case basis

  1. Going down the list, I’m amazed at how many of these I’ve seen. 2012 must’ve been the sweet spot year for me.

Best of luck. Fifty anime is about what I go through in nine months, as opposed to two.

  2. This is a pretty big task!

Some really fantastic shows though. I think you are really going to enjoy Shinsekai yori once you get past the first couple of episodes (not that they are bad but the meat of the show is really further in).

Some of my personal favorite shows are on the list too. Looking forward to whatever you may have to say about them and the other titles as well 🙂

      1. Well this goal of yours will give ya an excuse to rewatch it at least 🙂

At one point I was a sociology minor at my Uni and the show does such a great job nailing a lot of theory that it was quite impressive.
